Buy USDT with baht
PromptPay does not buy USDT. It moves baht into an exchange, and you buy USDT there. The two most used by Thai residents are Bitkub and Binance TH, both licensed by the Thai SEC. Baht deposits are free at both. Your real cost is the 0.25 percent trading fee plus the spread.
| Item | Bitkub | Binance TH |
|---|---|---|
| PromptPay baht deposit | No fee | No fee |
| Minimum deposit | 20 baht | 100 baht |
| Maximum per deposit | Bank limit applies | 4,000,000 baht |
| Trading fee, baht pairs | 0.25% | 0.25% |
| Trading fee, crypto pairs | Per published schedule | 0.10% |
| Baht withdrawal to bank | Per published schedule | 20 baht per transaction |
- Register at Bitkub or Binance TH with an email and phone number you actually use
- Complete identity verification with a Thai ID card and a face scan. This is required by law and cannot be skipped
- Link a bank account in your own name. Third-party accounts are rejected
- Send baht via PromptPay above each platform's minimum
- On the trading screen, pick the USDT and baht pair and buy. A limit order beats a market order slightly if you are not in a hurry
- Only then open the casino cashier and read which network it wants before sending anything
Round-trip cost
People count one leg. You pay the trading fee twice, once buying USDT and once selling it back to baht, so around half a percent total, plus spread, plus a network fee that is trivial on Tron, plus a flat baht withdrawal fee if you use Binance TH. Not large, but better known in advance.
On tax, kept separate
Ministerial Regulation No. 399 (B.E. 2568), published in the Royal Gazette on 5 September 2025, exempts personal income tax on gains from selling crypto through operators licensed by the Thai SEC, for income arising between 1 January 2025 and 31 December 2029.
Can I skip identity verification
Not legally. Licensed Thai operators must run KYC. Anyone offering a shortcut is offering you a problem.
Can I use an e-wallet instead of a bank
Deposit channels differ by platform and change often. Check the funding page of the exchange on the day you plan to do it.
